Team USA announced its rosters for 2024 and two Cache Valley players have been selected to be on the team. Breesen Hoehne, senior at Green Canyon, will be playing on the U20 girls team and Sam Nichols, also a senior at Green Canyon, has been selected to be on the U20 boys team.
Sam, son of Rich and Stacy Nichols, grew up with older brothers who played ultimate frisbee. In middle school he won a championship under coach Paul De Morgan. When Sam moved to high school, so did his coach, and recently they won the state championship with Green Canyon High School and placed 3rd at the High School National Invite. Sam is a defensive specialist but is a threat on both sides of the disc and is becoming a skilled thrower as well. Sam played under Coach Eric Holt, also of Cache Valley, for the past 2 years at the Youth Club Championships where they were back to back winners in 2022 and 2023.
Breesen, daughter of Josh and Sarrah Hoehne, began playing in 2021, along with her sister Kenzie, and made an immediate impact with her speed, drive and athleticism. She helped her team win the state championship the last 2 years and recently finished 3rd at the High School National Invite. She displays amazing effort on the field but is also well known for her kindness to competitors and support to her teammates. She was a captain for her Youth Club Championships team where she was coached by Utah Ultimate president, Joe Strong. She has several younger sisters following in her footsteps.
The tournament will be July 20-27 in Birmingham, England. The travel costs are quite high and if you’re able to donate to help lower their costs it would be very appreciated. (anything helps!)
Venmo for Rich and Stacy Nichols @Stacy-Nichols-18
We had pretty good representation from Cache Valley at the recent open tryouts for the Salt Lake Shred. It’s great to see so many players participating around the state. Pictured are past, current and future USU players.

Spirit of the Game
Creating a healthy and positive sporting experience is a priority for us. Part of being able to create such an experience is understanding the rules of the game and holding ourselves accountable to them. It’s not the other team’s job to make sure we’re following the rules, it’s our job. As you shift responsibility from other’s to yourself, you will be helping to build trust between opponents and build a healthier playing environment for everyone.
