We had an awesome time on Friday nights this winter. Thanks for helping make it be a great environment for friends and family. We had lots of new players!

In our Women’s Division we had 12 teams and the Free Agent team came out on top on ‘universe point’. (Sudden Death). Congrats to Heidi Beeston, Madi Seedall, Megan Martin, Ali Haws, and Brooklyn Tippetts.

In the High School Division Ridgeline overcame a 3 point deficit and also won on universe point. Congrats to Logan Knudson, Kolby Lang, Ethan Farmer, Joseph Sweeten, Merick Moar, Gunnar Larsen, and Adam and Dillon Mower.

In the Open Adult Division it was team Hoffman coming out on top of the powerful Green Canyon boys team. This game also went to universe point, making for an exciting evening of close games. Congrats to Christian Berger , Linkoln Hansen, Jacob Hoffman, Jonny Hoffman , Bryce Hoffman, and Brigham Radmall.

The Salt Lake Shred are coming up to Cache Valley on Saturday, March 16! Coach Bryce Merrill and the Shred players will be providing a fun opportunity for fans to interact and learn from them. The camp will be held at the Hansen Family Sports Complex.

The camp is for players 12 and up. It is $45 and will go from 1:30 to 5:00 pm. Groups will be divided by age and ability so that they can teach skills more effectively to each participant. Register here: https://saltlakeshred.com/products/shred-youth-clinic-cache-valley-edition?

After the clinic you’re invited to stick around and interact with the players and coaches. There will be a fan fest from 5:00-6:00pm where players and fans can play several fun mini games together and get photos taken. Stay and watch the Shred play a game after 6pm!

The Cache Valley middle school team is getting ready to begin!

The middle school teams have been a great way to prepare the youth for high school teams and to introduce them to ‘The Spirit of the Game’ and other foundational principles of the sport. For more information about playing with the Scorch, read this document:

Spring time means high school ultimate is in full swing. We don’t offer adult spring ultimate because we don’t want to take away from the youth opportunities. There’s limited field space and people that can help coach at each high school.

We’re grateful to all the coaches that are dedicating their time to help support our youth!

For years the Cache Valley youth have had to drive down to Salt Lake City twice a week in the summer if they wanted to participate in summer camps, if they made it past the selection process. They paid the same $500 that everyone else paid but also had to spend 3-4 hours driving down and back as well as pay the extra gas money. This was an obstacle for many players and families.

We will be hosting summer camps this summer, here in Cache Valley. We hope to support middle school, high school and even adults who might be interested in more focused practices and skill building. A portion of the time will be used to help build athleticism.

Practices will typically be twice a week for 2 to 3 hours and will go from June to August. If you’re interested in more information or staying informed about the summer camps, please fill out this interest form:

One thought I’ve had recently is about the process we go through to learn and grow. The effort we put in to learning and improving is what gives us confidence and allows us to become successful in different areas of life.

Sometimes we shift our focus from the work to the outcome and end up devaluing the process that gets us there. This is one of the reasons cheating in sports happens because we shift our attention to the wrong thing.

We encourage the players and coaches to keep focused on the process. If you put in the time and the work then the growth will happen. If we focus on ‘we have to win this game (or tournament)’ then it may become harder for players to call fouls and violations on themselves and their own team because they see that as taking us farther away from our goal of ‘winning’ rather than seeing it as the right way to play.

However, if our focus is on growth, the process and doing things the ‘right’ way then we allow space for players to make mistakes and learn from them and to see the game more objectively.

Thank you for helping create such a fun community for everyone. Having a space where all abilities can learn and play together has been great. We appreciate those who were able to help set up and clean up the fields each night. We are all just a group of parents and players working together to build this great community.
